If you’re looking for Thai Boxing classes in Kernersville, NC, there’s a big difference between getting a good workout while throwing some punches and actually learning how to fight.
At Edge Fitness & Combat Arts, we want you to do both.
Our Thai Boxing program is designed to teach real striking skills while giving you the kind of workout that gets you into fight shape. You don’t have to be a fighter, you don’t have to compete, and you don’t have to get beat up to train with us.
Everyone trains like a fighter. You decide how far you want to take it.
Our Thai Boxing classes meet Monday through Thursday at 6:00 PM at our Kernersville location, giving you four opportunities every week to train and improve.
We spend time developing the different pieces that make someone a well-rounded striker, including punches, kicks, knees, defensive movement, clinch work, combinations, pad drills, partner drills, conditioning, and light technical sparring.
Some nights you might spend a lot of time hitting pads. Another night we may focus heavily on partner drills, defense, clinch work, or putting techniques together.
The goal isn’t just to make you tired.
We want you to understand what you’re doing and become better at it.
That means learning the basics first, developing good technique, and then gradually learning how to apply those skills with another person in front of you.
One of the things I’m most proud of about our Thai Boxing program is the people teaching it.
Araceli brings real competitive experience to the program as a multi-time amateur Thai Boxing champion. She understands what it’s like to learn these skills, prepare for competition, step into the ring, and actually put them to work.
Alex is a competitive kickboxer herself and has had opportunities throughout her martial arts career to train with some of the great names in kickboxing.
That experience matters.
But being a good fighter and being a good coach aren’t always the same thing. What I appreciate about our instructors is that they can take what they’ve learned and work with people at very different levels.
You might walk into your first Thai Boxing class having never thrown a proper jab in your life and be training beside someone preparing for a fight.
Both belong in the room.
I think this is one of the biggest misconceptions people have about Muay Thai, kickboxing, boxing, and other combat sports.
“I’d love to try it, but I don’t want to get punched in the face.”
Fair enough.
You don’t have to.
We believe everyone can benefit from training like a fighter without everyone needing to become one.
You’ll learn the techniques. You’ll hit pads. You’ll work with partners. You’ll learn offense and defense. You’ll condition your body. As you progress, there are opportunities for light and controlled sparring, but you decide the level of contact you’re comfortable with.
If your goal is eventually to compete, we can help you work toward that.
If your goal is to learn Thai Boxing, get into incredible shape, build confidence, and have absolutely no interest in ever competing, that’s great too.
There’s room for both.
We also finish our training with workouts designed to develop the conditioning that combat sports require.
Fighters need more than just strength or cardio. You need to be able to work hard, recover, and work hard again.
Our nightly workouts help develop that kind of conditioning.
Depending on the night, that might mean bag work, bodyweight exercises, partner conditioning, sprints, core work, or other exercises designed to push you.
It’s challenging, but that’s part of what makes Thai Boxing such a great alternative to a traditional workout.
Instead of spending an hour staring at a treadmill screen, you’re learning a skill while getting your workout in.
You might come because you want to lose weight or get in better shape and discover that you really love learning the technique.
Or you might walk in because you’ve always wanted to learn how to fight and realize you’re also getting into some of the best shape of your life.
That’s one of my favorite things about combat sports. The fitness and the skill develop together.
